'Red Account: My Bloody Angel' Review (SculptingFragments)

Told through flashbacks our main girl Tomoko speaks of how her husband Masao, who she is deeply in love with, met his untimely fate.
This 'Tokyo Shock' release bills 'Red Account' as an all out gore film, in the same vein as the infamous 'Guinea Pig' series to come out of the same Japan as this underground sickie. Presented in a nice slipcase with four collectors art cards, very pretty. But now for the film itself.
Opening we see a ceremony trying to rid the devil, out of Masao's eye, Tomoko tells of how they are in love together so she has to help him with his eye problem. This is shown by a what seems to be everlasting dull sex scene. One thing i don't get about Japanese films with hardcore sex in, is why they have scenes like close up shots of a girls twat when they know it's just going to get blurred out! There's nothing like a face full of pixels to ruin the mood.
Skip forward twenty minutes and two sex scenes later we still don't know anything thats going on, the only dialogue we've had so far is that these two people are in love, I would have like some more talking but her mouth was too full of dick. Now we're introduced to a new character, Kawakami San, not that we know anything about the first two characters, except how they fuck but whatever.
We soon learn that Masao has a new song that he composed for the awesome rock band that we never see, he becomes more and more reclusive writing music and begins to distance himself from Tomoko. Because of this it's clear to see he is possessed by The Devil, after all rock music is The Devils music, apparently. Lucky for him, his old school friend Kawakami is an exorcist and they set up the ceremony we briefly witnessed at the beginning. After a few seconds of ceremonial gibberish Kawakami gives up and tries a different method: he strangles Masao, cuts off his head and pokes him in the eye.
'The Devil has infected his organs, we need to clean his organs!'
Apparently Masao's schoolfriend exorcist is also a surgeon, go figure! From here on out i took of my thinking cap and enjoyed the gore. Couldn't help but wonder what they were going to do with Masao after they were done cleaning all his 'Devil organs', well when the exorcist surgeon calls it a night it turns out Tomoko is a necrophiliac so let the good times role, I guess.

'Orozco the Embalmer' Review (SculptingFragments)

The film opens with a tour of a rundown town in Columbia, derelict buildings and bodies in the street.
The people that live here, live poor and die poor, in the hands of the legendary Orozco the Embalmer.
This documentary follows Orozco as he does his daily job of receiving corpses, gutting them and filling them up, not with embalming fluid as you'd expect but with old rags and newspaper. The conditions he works in are revolting, the cutting and gutting takes place in what looks like an abandoned garage packed full of storage boxes.
His method is brutal and careless, which makes the whole process seem more surreal. One thing you will notice is that he never shows any compassion for the body, everything is very rough and rushed. We are not used to seeing this side of the world, life here is cheap.
When not in the garage we survey the local town discovering body after body. Men, women, old and young, they can all be found in the streets of Colombia and all end up at Orozco's.
To say this film is hard hitting is an understatement, after just ten minutes of watching i was ready to turn it off and try another time, but i stayed with it and with each scene a more horrific corpse greeted me. Where as many other 'Shockumentaries' feature dead bodies that have met their untimely deaths due to some unfortunate accident, these people die as it is their way of life. i can bet that only a minuscule amount of people die from natural causes here, and from watching this, it serves more like an 'eye-opener' to know the conditions other parts of the world live in. They are not lucky like us to be provided with excellent health care or even a justice system. These people are the underdogs of life.
Unfortunately the edition that i am reviewing does not have english subtitles, despite most of the dialogue is the odd word or sentence here and there, there is one interview which would be nice to know what was being said. Apart from that this extremely enjoyable experience last a very long 90 minutes. I've always heard people saying after watching a death film they're left with a dirty feeling. I never experienced that feeling before but now i know.

Recommended: Sodomatik Extreme Gore Mixtape DVD Vol. 1
Sodomatik Extreme Gore Mixtape Vol. 1 is a great compilation of clips from some of the greatest horror/exploitation films out there, and its a good starter point for those that are just getting into the genre. Music accompany around 25 minutes of the mix, after that the clips feature their original audio tracks. Sodomatik 1 is also a good item to put on when some friends pop around for a few beers and need some light entertainment!

Ade Rowe Has A Quick Chat With Daikichi Amano (Genki-Genki)
Daikichi Amano is the creator of the infamous Genki films. Featuring sea creatures and insects amongst other things, these are the most creative and extreme Japanese porn/art films out there. Daikichi is also a photographer of bizarre and beautiful scenarios featuring sea creatures and insects. I am privellaged that Mr Amano could answer a few of my questions because, by his own admission, his English isnt that good.
Daikichi Amano: I think both which are art and photography.
AR: The first Genki-Genki film was Love by the Scalpel Dog. I see that this is not available anymore on your site. Do you regret making the film?
DA: In fact, start of Genki-Genki was scalpel dog, but, using dog is really difficult for
photo shooting, therefore, I have changed to sea creatures.
AR: Do you appreciate how your work has been embraced by the Extreme Film Community?
DA: Yes, I am really pleasure to enter the community.
AR: How did you come up with the idea of using sea creatures and insects in your work?
DA: I am always thinking care of female genital, so, I am always going to fish and creature shop and
I am thinking new idea.
AR: Do you personally find your work sexually erotic?
DA: I am making the film for those interested in these category.
AR: Have you moved away from doing Sea Creature based films or do you still plan to bring more out?
DA: I am shooting horror film right now.
AR: Which Artists and Directors have influenced you?
DA: I do not have any people of artists and directors who from influence.
